ABOUT KEFALONIA – With a population of approximately 32,000, Kefalonia or "Cephalonia" is the largest of the Ionian Islands, the capital being the town of Argost´óli . The island is the sixth largest in Greece , covering some 737 square kilometres and has 254 km of coastline enjoying a typically Mediterranean climate. With mountainous terrain, beautiful rocky shores and sandy beaches surround the island on all sides. As with the other Ionian Islands , Kefalonia is blessed with a mild climate with sunshine most days of the year.
THE CLIMATE - Winters are generally mild and wet, with little or no frost. This accounts for the lush green vegetation. In April and May temperatures rise steadily with sharp showers drying out. By June, rainfall drops dramatically and temperatures soar during July and August with no rainfall at all.
